Rafael Navarrete Vargas is a senior at Pescadero High School who plans to study Mechanical Engineering at a four-year universty.
He takes classes at the College of San Mateo, works part-time to support his family, and has a passion for helping others which has made him a leader at home, top-performer in school, and captain on the varsity soccer team. His teachers praise Rafael’s discipline, ambition, and intellectual curiosity as assets which will help him succeed in school and beyond.
For Rafael, an Al Teglia Jobs for Youth Scholarship will support his dream of becoming the first in his immigrant family to graduate college and paving the way for his five younger siblings.
