Joaquin Preciado is a current student at the College of San Mateo and Supported Training & Employment Program (STEP) intern with the San Mateo County Probation Department who hopes to become a therapist for foster children.
As a former foster youth who battled addiction, Joaquin has overcome incredible personal challenges. Today he uses his personal story to help mentor other foster youth and show them there is a path to a brighter future.
His professional references praise Joaquin’s tenacity, commitment to seeking and meeting new challenges, and ability to listen to and support his peers.
For Joaquin, an Al Teglia Jobs for Youth Scholarship will support his pursuit of a psychology degree and ultimate goal of creating positive change for our San Mateo County community.
