40 years ago, Daly City Mayor Al Teglia had an idea: What if every youth in San Mateo County received the support they needed to succeed in their careers? From that idea came Jobs for Youth, a County of San Mateo program for people ages 14-21.
In 2022, we celebrated our 40th year of empowering youth to reach their full potential through higher education scholarships and we could not be more proud! The 40th JFY Al Teglia Scholar Shine Bright Celebration was a memorable and impactful event as we honor our past, embrace our present, and look forward to a bright future. Thank you all for being a part of our journey and supporting our youth to go after their higher education dreams!

While the past few years were turbulent with the COVID-19 pandemic, our Shine Bright Scholars have continued to be the shining light in our community. It is their strength that gives us hope for a bright future.
Receiving the Jobs for Youth Al Teglia Scholarship is just one of the many accomplishments these bright youth will have throughout their journey. Wherever their endeavors take them, we know that following their dreams will lead them to a bright future!
