HONORING THE
PAST, BUILDING
THE FUTURE
A Word from Rocio Kiryczun, County of
San Mateo Human Resources Director
For 37 years, Jobs for Youth has served the communities
of San Mateo County. Its model and location have
changed over time, but its focus has not: JFY helps young
people achieve their life goals!
In 2017, JFY transitioned from the County of San Mateo
Human Services Agency to the Human Resources
Department. In making this transition, we wanted to be
sure that we were honoring the incredible work of the
past while building an even brighter future. That’s why
we’ve continued cultivating some wonderful traditions,
like our annual Breakfast fundraiser, which brings
together donors, youth, and valued supporters of our
program every year.
Our staff has also made incredible strides in updating
our program to meet the needs of our communities today.
In response to feedback from community employers and
national workplace trends, JFY has updated workshop
offerings to include a wider array of soft skills.
Scholarship marketing and selection processes have
been revamped to reach more youth. And every day, staff
reflect on their work in order to constantly improve their
services to the community.
We believe in the dreams of our San Mateo County youth,
and I look forward to seeing the incredible things that our
JFY Members achieve in the coming years.
Sincerely,
Rocio Kiryczun
