Violet McNally believes in connection. A former Student Ambassador to the City of San Mateo’s sister city of Tokonoya, Japan, Violet knows that building mutual understanding across difference is the best way to bring about a more peaceful world. Her commitment to this belief inspired her to start a visual pen pal program after her visit to Japan, continuing to build connections between her peers and those she had met while abroad. Violet brings this belief to her passion for theater as well, which she sees as an important tool for helping children heal from trauma and learn to trust others. She spends her summers as a theater camp counselor, is currently preparing to audition for a coveted spot in the theater major at UCLA, and hopes to build a career as a children’s theater teacher. Violet will graduate from Hillsdale High School in 2021.
