Luis Angel Espino Cervantes is a senior at Woodside High School who plans to study Computer Science in college. He is eager to explore the infinite applications of computers in complex problem solving.
Luis immigrated from Mexico his freshmen year with limited English and an unstable home. Since then, he has won athletic and academic awards, discovered a passion for music production, and given back through volunteering and tutoring younger immigrants.
Luis’ teachers praise his thirst for learning, dogged determination to work through outside obstacles without complaint, and commitment to helping his immigrant community access the opportunities he has created for himself.
For Luis, an Al Teglia Jobs for Youth Scholarship will assist in covering the considerable costs of college and help him continue to break barriers and expectations so he can then help others find their path to success.
