Let’s go down memory lane! Here are some highlights of Jobs for Youth in 2013!
In October 2013, Al Teglia was honored by the Daly City Council for his years of service to the community and was presented with a proclamation declaring his birthday, June 27th, to be Al Teglia Day!
In 2013, Jobs for Youth celebrated 31 years of “Growing our Future Workforce” at the Foster City Crowne Plaza. JFY Chairman Ron Kahn, made opening remarks and Don Horsley, President, San Mateo County Board of Supervisors was the JFY Honorary Chairman. Beverly Beasley Johnson was the Director of SMC Human Services Agency. Emmett D. Carson, founding CEO of Silicon Valley Community Foundation was the Keynote Speaker.
SMC Board of Supervisor Adrienne J. Tissier presented the special Business Recognition Awards to Wells Fargo and Walmart. Gloria Vanderhorst received the Mary Paskevich Memorial Award.
JFY raised over $46,000 and awarded 20 scholarships to the following JFY Al Teglia Scholars: Mauricio Alvarado (Jefferson HS)
