Lifeguard at Emerald Lake Country Club

Spend your summer at Emerald Lake Country Club, ensuring the safety of our members and guests. We’re seeking energetic, responsible individuals interested in employment as a lifeguard. The Lake is a family-friendly community with fun events throughout the season. You’ll be responsible for supervising the lake and swimmers to ensure rules are followed and safety is a top priority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain the safety of the Lake and its members and guests
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the facilities
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 15 years of age
  • Possess a valid/current Lifeguard Training certification (we can help connect you to training if needed)
  • Some swimming experience; comfort in and around water
  • Enthusiastic and energetic attitude and works well with others

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise the activities of swimmers by consistently enforcing rules and regulations
  • Notify swimmers of improper activities or hazards
  • Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid
  • Administer deep water swim test
  • Help keep beach clean, safe and organized
  • Provide customer service to lake members and guests

SALARY AND TIME COMMITMENTS

  • $18/hour for new guards, salary increases with work experience
  • Lake hours are approximately 11:30 am to 7:30 pm (7 days/week), with 2 shifts per day
  • Minimum expectation of 4 shifts per week, including one weekend shift
  • Opportunity to work more days/hours than the minimum required
  • Opportunity for bonuses
  • Lifeguards are expected to work their shift until it is covered
  • Available to work week days, weekends, and at least one of the three summer holidays (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day)
  • Required to attend staff meetings and trainings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This job operates in an outdoor setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand; walk on uneven terrain and perform rescues from a lake. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
