Intern, Library & Information Services

As a Gilead Intern, you will contribute to high-impact meaningful projects that will not only further advance our company’s mission but will allow you to gain real world experience at one of the most innovative organizations in the world. You will also have opportunities to participate in special events including professional development and leadership presentations, social/network building activities and local community volunteer programs.

The Library & Information Services (L&IS) department in Medical Affairs is a global partner to all Gilead functions. L&IS team members provide expert information research including literature searching and analysis as well as access, outreach and training on resources that are used by research, development, medical and commercial colleagues.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop a marketing and communication plan for library outreach and marketing services and resources to all colleagues worldwide – including but not limited to Yammer engagement, corporate intranet stories and email communications. The final deliverable would be a plan for L&IS to use for the next 12 months.
  • Establish standards for designs of L&IS promotional materials
  • Design templates for PowerPoint training slides, how-to’s for databases and self-service activities, L&IS signage and branding material (print and digital)
  • Create marketing materials that target specific audiences (groups/departments/users)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited US based university or college
  • Pursing undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business, Marketing or Biology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Indicates a strong desire to establish a career within a health-related or computer science field and is prepared to display autonomy through various independent projects and assignments
  • Experience in marketing for library or information centers
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication
  • Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, teamwork, and professionalism in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be able to work at our Foster City site for the duration of the internship
  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BA in Library & Information Science preferred
  • Master of Library & Information Science preferred
