JOB SUMMARY:

The Busser and Food Runner cleans, clears, and sets tables in the restaurant. They provide support to restaurant staff by managing restaurant supplies such as napkins, straws, crockery, and cutlery to ensure that the restaurant and supplies are clean and organized. They may also deliver or assist delivering food to diners on request of wait staff or supervisors. The Busser and Food Runner is expected to maintain the Club’s high standards of excellence in appearance, hospitality and service in personnel and cleanliness in all areas of the Club.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepare dining room for members by cleaning and clothing tables, setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.

· Protect establishment and members by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.

· Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; running food; being alert to member spills or other special needs.

· Support wait staff by setting-up and replenishing condiment stands, trash containers liners, and bus stations.

· Close dining facility by cleaning chairs and tables; sweeping and/or vacuuming floors; removing trash and recyclables from the facility.

· Update job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.

· Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately.

· Act as the point of contact between Front of the House and Back of the House staff.

· Maintain a strong knowledge of all food and beverage menus. Know major allergens and ingredients in drinks and food served at the club.

· Communicate food orders to Chefs, paying attention to priorities (e.g. food allergies and proper temperature)

· Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins.

· Serve welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres upon guests’ arrival.

· Work to maintain a clean work area. Accomplish daily side work and complete all scheduled deep cleaning action items.

· Maintain a safe work area. Keep an eye out for any hazards that may create a trip, slip, or fall. Clean any spills as soon as possible to keep the team safe.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

· The Busser/Food Runner must be a positive and upbeat team-player!

· Has a passion for customer service and work in the hospitality industry.

· A team attitude and an ability to work well with everyone on the team.

· Prioritize tasks with the goals of the team in mind.

· Make the members and guest service a priority.

· Member recognition, be proactive and address all members with the correct article and last name.

· Good communication skills

· Flexible in schedule availability according to business needs

· Must be able to communicate in the predominant language of members and guests.

· A valid Food Handler card is required.

· A current ABC certification for the state of California is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or GED (preferred)

· Previous employment in the hospitality/Club industry or environment

· Proficient in use of computers including Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to multi-task and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
