Day Castillo steps up to challenges. They do not shy away from advocating for themself or guiding peers to meet their full potential. As a teaching assistant in the Compass program, Day volunteered 75 hours over the summer to transition incoming freshman successfully into high school. They also serve as a Safe School Ambassador, making sure that the student body can learn in a safe space. As a former foster youth, Day was able to navigate through a difficult experience with bravery and tenacity leading to ultimately dream of pursuing a career that provides light to others. Currently a junior at Woodside High School’s Green Academy, Day plans on studying both psychology and dance with the intention of becoming a therapist.
