Areeta Wong is a senior at San Mateo High School who plans to study Computer Science and Business Administration at a four-year college. She is involved in multiple organizations to increase opportunities for women in technology and founded an award-winning local event towards that goal.
She also gives back through tutoring under-achieving elementary students.
Areeta’s teachers praise her sense of responsibility, willingness to try new ideas, ability to lead groups to achieve shared goals, and passion for increasing diversity in the Computer Science field.
For Areeta, an Al Teglia Jobs for Youth Scholarship will help lessen the financial burden of being the first in her family to go to college, as well as fulfill the dream of cultivating a better life that honors the sacrifices of her immigrant mother.
