MESSAGE FROM APRIL 8:
To our wonderful youth and supporters,
During this challenging time, we continue to make updates to our program offerings based on the latest available public health information and guidance from our County leadership. After much consideration and with the hope of continuing to help “flatten the curve,” we have made the difficult decision to suspend our Summer Internship program for 2020.
Please see the message dated March 18 below for other information on our program operations.

MESSAGE FROM MARCH 18:
Dear Jobs for Youth family,
We at Jobs for Youth care deeply about you and your well-being, and we wish all of you and your families good physical and mental health during this challenging time. As we all make our way through the uncharted waters of COVID-19, the health and safety of our youth, families, and community partners are the top priority. Our County officials have been closely monitoring the rapidly-changing situation so we can make responsible decisions and keep you informed.
Here are the latest updates from our team (which are subject to change):
WORKSHOPS (DISTANCE LEARNING):
We are exploring different Job Preparation Workshop distance learning models so that our youth can continue to access these essential skills workshops and will email all of our community partners the details shortly.
JFY SUMMER INTERNSHIPS:
We are still offering 1:1 Workshops to help youth obtain eligibility for our JFY Summer Internships. We encourage youth who are 18-21 and who reside in San Mateo County during the summer to email JobsforYouth@smcgov.org to request this type of workshop. All 1:1 Workshops will be held via phone.
JFY SCHOLARSHIP BREAKFAST:
We have decided to postpone the 38th Annual Scholarship Breakfast, in accordance with the latest County, state, and federal public health guidance. We still expect to celebrate and introduce our Scholars to the community sometime this year.
COVID-19 UPDATES:
Please visit our San Mateo County Covid-19 website for up-to-date information on the Covid-19 response in the County: https://www.smchealth.org/coronavirus. Other reliable sources of up-to-date information include the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) and the WHO website (https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus).
SCHOOL MEALS:
Child nutrition is essential during this time and school districts are offering “grab and go” meals at various school sites. We encourage you to visit your school district website to learn more.
This is a challenging time, but we will get through this together. Please wash your hands, practice social distancing and take care of yourself.
Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by this global crisis.
Be well,
The Jobs for Youth team
